building a kingdom community over competition

Building a Kingdom community over competition

As Christians, we are supposed to leave comparison, envy, and jealousy at the door. With our eyes so fixated on screens and the lives of others, those thoughts and feelings can easily creep in. The world leads us to believe that there are only so many pieces of the pie to go around, but as Tischa van de Reep states, “The world’s pie is not God’s pie! He is limitless. He is eternal. And so is His pie.”

This belief of an eternal, limitless pie has allowed Tischa to build a community of women communicators focused on the greater mission and message of Christ without competition, comparison, envy, jealously.

Come along with us as we explore how we can band together as sisters in Christ and support one another for the greater mission!

Meet Tischa

Tischa van de Reep is a Christian writer, speaker, and teacher. She is also the founder of The Well Communicators, a diverse collective of speakers, teachers, and worship leaders. Originally from Trinidad & Tobago, Tischa is married to Harald, who is from The Netherlands. They live in The Woodlands, Texas, where they homeschool their two teenaged sons – Julian and Aidan. Tischa’s writing and speaking style make Scripture relatable to real-life while encouraging and challenging the reader/listener. Her dramatic and compelling testimony includes molestation, rape, homelessness, a psychologically abusive marriage, abandonment, divorce, and alcohol abuse. She harnesses the darkness of her past to create a sense of belonging for women who may consider themselves outside of God’s love, favor, and grace.

God’s infinite blessings

Growing up in Trinidad and Tobago, Tischa never imagined she would marry a man from the Netherlands, raise a family, and move to the great “nation” of Texas. Her location moves were nothing in comparison to what God would do with her heart. Once a girl from Trinidad and Tobago who knew nothing of God’s love is now a Texan on fire for Christ creating a ministry of women who spread the news of His love. Because of this, Tischa knows God’s love is infinite, and so are the blessings He gives to each of us.

Leaving comparison, envy, and jealousy behind

“The Kingdom is huge. It’s infinite. It’s a level playing field. It’s all hands on deck in the Kingdom, and so it really should not be about comparison or competition or any of those things,” says Tischa. Each of us has something that God gave only us, that’s unique only to us; a word, mission, vision, calling, or purpose. Why would we compete against each other when God has provided each of us with a separate DNA? We are children of God and not of this world, so we need to release that kind of thinking. But how do we do that?

Prayer truly is the answer to everything

The Bible tells us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44). Although influencers on Instagram who spin you into a fit of jealousy aren’t the enemy, the feelings are still the same. As hard as it may be, the answer is to pray. Pray for the individuals who make it tough to keep your eyes on your prize at not fault of their own. Pray for success, health and safety, and others are led to the faith because of their blessings. And pray for the challenging circumstances they may be going through or for what may lay ahead. This approach of prayer changes our posture and the way we view them. We are all human searching for a greater calling and a closer relationship to Christ. No one is pure and blameless. No one is perfect. We need to establish a global community for the greater mission and leave ourselves behind.

More from this episode

Comparison can often come from feelings of unworthiness or a lack of confidence. After moving to a town of individuals who didn’t look or speak like Tischa and being surrounded by those who had been walking in faith much longer than her, Tischa had to find her truth through the Truth of God. Listen in to hear how she overcame imposter syndrome, allowing her to focus on the ministry and path set before her.
