Asking God for big dreams

Patty Post knows just what it is like to dream big and ask God for the door to open to a big, scary, but exciting dream. As the founder and CEO of Checkable Medical, a healthcare startup company, her dream of one day innovating a new way of healthcare is now a reality. Her company empowers consumers to take their health into their own hands, providing peace of mind through at-home tests and innovative wellness solutions. Something she was told wasn’t possible.

About Patty 

As a mother of three children, CEO and founder Patty Post was frustrated with the status quo of going to the clinic to check for symptoms. She imagined a diagnostic that could confirm symptoms from home and allow consumers to receive a diagnosis and treatment plan from a virtual healthcare provider. She couldn’t find a solution, so she did it herself by creating Checkable Medical. Patty is a dreamer, visionary, risk-taker, and a woman of God who believes you can do anything when you have a strong foundation in Christ. 

Dream big, girl

As a dreamer and visionary, taking risks is not something Patty is shy about. Now on her fourth startup company, Patty knows what it is like to bet on God and herself. However, even as a natural-born risk taker, Patty still finds her direction and courage in Christ. 

When Patty was told her dream of an at-home strep test couldn’t be done, she went straight to her source and asked boldly for her dream to become a reality. Then, knowing God was true to His Word as a provider, she waited for Him to give her the courage to make the leap of faith, and He did. 

Now living her dream as founder and CEO of Checkable Medical, Patty still deals with the emotions around big asks as she navigates fundraising, research and development, marketing, and all the roles it takes to run a successful company. When asked what she does on the days it gets tough, Patty responded, “Rather than saying, ‘God, do you want me to be doing this?’ Instead, I say, ‘God, you put me in this position. I know you want me to do big things. What’s just my one baby step? How can I feel better today about this? Show me one thing.”

As an experienced entrepreneur, Patty offers a few takeaways: 

• Think bigger, and then when you think bigger, talk to God about it because God’s plan for you is so much bigger than what you think, so ask God for big ideas.
• Find a way to use your talents and ambitions for a greater purpose.
• Research and confirm your dream by market analysis. 
• Take the time to pitch your idea and get your family involved and onboard. 
• If you have a constant burning desire for a dream and can’t let it go, don’t be scared. God has given you that dream, purpose, passion, and desire. 
• Bet on yourself and bet on God.

If you are still on the fence about asking God boldly for your dreams or don’t know if you should continue with the pursuit of your dream, Patty offers a word of encouragement to beat fear, “There is still a fear of failure, but in the end, at least you tried.” And from her standpoint, that will beat out regret any day.
