How to engage in politics without losing your friends

How to engage in politics without losing your friends and stay true to your beliefs

Politics can lead to a dicey and fiery conversation no matter what political side you find yourself on. Left or right or everything in between, you can’t get away from the volatility of it all.

So much so that I said I wasn’t ever going to go there on the podcast, but given the political state of America and even the world, there’s no better time than now.

However, in my conversation with Denise Gitsham, a woman with more than two decades of experience working in the highest levels of government, you won’t hear us going to bat for one side over the other.

Why? Because as Christians, we are called to maintain peace and love those we disagree with while standing firm on God’s truth.

So you will hear how you can lean into politics, engage with it with wisdom and discernment, and use your faith as a unifying force with believers and non-believers on the other side of the aisle.

Now’s not the time to shy away. Let’s be bold and dive right in.

About Denise Gitsham

Denise was born at Travis Air Force Base in Northern California to a Chinese mother and a Canadian father. As the daughter of immigrants and a lover of God, her life is marked by gratitude and a commitment to public service. A graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and Bowdoin College, Denise has worked at the highest levels of the federal government, from the White House to the US Senate, as well as in law firms, for startups, and most recently in politics, as a candidate for Congress. Today, she has her own public affairs consulting firm, serves on numerous boards, and is an Ironman triathlete.
